RBK Diary: Mini-camp synopsis
It was an overall good experience at Air 7 QBU. A lot of it included repetition of basic skills which helped me a lot for the upcoming season. I was very impressed with the coaching staff. The in-depth instruction into the quarterback position that they provided is a direct reflection of their deep knowledge of the game. I particularly liked the former Oklahoma offensive coordinator, Coach Dickinson. By breaking down each play in detail showed me the proper techniques of how to study film. He also said that the higher you go in football the more film you will study. So since I am very intent on playing beyond high school, this is something I need to become quite familiar with. The highlight of my day and definitely my favorite of all the drills was throwing on the run. No matter what type of offense you run, a quarterback has to have the ability to throw on the run. I felt that Demetrius Richardson had a stellar performance at the mini-camp. He definitely set the tone for our group when during the scramble drills. Overall I felt that I did well but there is always room for improvement. Overall, I felt that all these repetitions improved my fundamentals as a quarterback and all the hours we spent in the classroom provided me with a better understanding of watching film.
