Blaszczyk Named to Rimington Award Watch List
The Rimington Trophy committee has released its 2008 Spring Watch List and Rutgers' Ryan Blaszczyk (Medford Lakes, N.J.) has been named to the list. In all, there are 42 players on the watch list for the award given annually to the nation's top center.
Blaszczyk enters his second season as Rutgers' starting center this fall. In 2007, Blaszczyk started all 13 games at center as the RU offensive line allowed just 10 sacks, the second-fewest total in the nation.
He was also part of an offensive line that paved the way for All-America running back Ray Rice, who rushed for a school and BIG EAST record 2,012 yards in 2007.
Blaszczyk is the second member of the 2008 RU offensive line to be named to a preseason award watch list. Sophomore left tackle Anthony Davis (Piscataway, N.J.) was named to the 2008 Outland Trophy Watch List earlier this spring.
