N.J. stars beat New York in Governor's Bowl
Joe Sidaris stepped slowly down the ramp outside of the locker room at Rutgers Stadium carrying his shoulder pads and helmet with his hair disheveled, his sun-kissed face finally in the shade. It was a rough day for the former Floyd quarterback, who took a deep breath and offered this:
"It feels weird to lose."
Sidaris, one of 10 Long Islanders who played in the 11th annual Governor's Bowl between New York and New Jersey yesterday, started at quarterback and completed 3 of 6 passes for 12 yards with two interceptions in a 33-22 loss to a seemingly bigger, faster and stronger New Jersey all-star team.
Sidaris had his first pass attempt picked off by Rutgers-bound Marvin Booker. In the third quarter, Sidaris had a pass intercepted by free safety Pat Kivlehan, who also will play for the Scarlet Knights.
